THE MOSAIC PROJECT OF SOUTH TEXAS TO HOST IT’S THIRD ANNUAL PRIDE DOWNTOWN CELEBRATION

Corpus Christi, TX – For the third consecutive year, The Mosaic Project of South Texas is excited to host the third annual city-sanctioned Pride Downtown CC celebration beginning Monday, June 4, 2018, with events going all the way through Sunday, June 10, 2018.

“When we look back, we consider how far we’ve come,” said Board President, Dylan Rios. “Our Pride Downtown celebration was launched in summer of 2016, and we never knew it would grow from a one-day celebration to a five-day celebration in only three short years.”

This year’s events are designed to be inclusive in nature and are sure to be perfect for everything from date nights to family outings. From a special film screening, to our 2nd annual Pride Downtown Pride parade presented by Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation, a block party, and even a wedding, Pride Downtown is an equality-driven community event focused on commemorating LGBTQIA+ history and honoring the leaders who came before us, promoting education about the human rights for which we fight, and celebrating our future here in Corpus Christi and around the world.

Pride Downtown was born as one community's response to the Pulse Nightclub tragedy in Orlando, Florida. What originally began as a plea for LGBTQIA+ recognition and acceptance in deep South Texas has since evolved into a living, breathing symbol of hope within our community — one that we will work to grow here in Corpus Christi, first, and then, around the world.

With the continuous support of our amazing followers and the City of Corpus Christi – The Mosaic Project of South Texas will be bringing more celebrations in the years to come and we hope to bring a significant economic impact to our city and the surrounding areas and show the nation that Corpus Christi, TX is a place where any individual – no matter who they are, where they’ve come from, or who they love – can show their pride 24/7 just as they are.

This year’s Pride Downtown celebration wouldn’t be possible without our wonderful sponsors Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation, The Purple Door, Women’s and Men’s Health Services, City of Corpus Christi, Human Rights Campaign, Equality Texas, Svedka Vodka, Stiletto Productions, House of Rock, SuperCuts, The Bay Jewel, and Snyder & Associates.

On May 18th, The Mosaic Project announced its official status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. With this status, our organization will finally be able to self-sustain as a charitable organization.

We are still actively seeking parade applications for the Pride Parade and the application can be found at pridedowntowncc.com.
